I’ve seen a lot of ugly PCs in my time—I’ve even built a few over the years—but I think this one might take the cake. First spotted by TechSpot, a Reddit user installed 13 separate portable displays inside their PC to create a wall of animated GIFs that just loop over and over. There’s unicorn vomit, and then there’s this.
DIY PC aesthetics have changed a lot over the years. Decades ago, a few blue LEDs were a mark of serious quality, while UV-reactive DFI motherboards were as glaring as PCs could get. Then we went through the RGB LED phase and right back out the other side with stealthy, blacked-out builds becoming more common. Wood-effect made a comeback eventually (I do love me a Fractal North), and even beige PC cases are available in 2026 for a decidedly retro build.
But looping GIFs like this? Oh my goodness.
This wasn’t just some slapped-together project, either. Several-Bar-6512 had to carefully mount the five WOWNOVA 5-inch USB displays, four WOWNOVA 8.8-inch USB displays, one MAGICRAVEN 14.5-inch 4K portable monitor, one VSDISPLAY 12.7-inch stretched bar display, and two Wisecoco 14-inch 4K stretched bar displays inside the chassis. Then they had to power them, connect the data cables, hook up the Raspberry Pis to manage them, and ensure they wouldn’t overheat the system during use.
But they ultimately spent over 200 hours just downloading, editing, and trimming GIFs to fit the screens, which together hide a 9950X3D and RTX 5090.
As someone with two young children, making it tricky to grab even a few hours for personal projects, the mind boggles. Fortunately, at least, my PC doesn’t risk sending me into a fit just by a casual glance.
