Sharpen your knives one final time and head back to the kitchen for FX’s The Bear season 5, which premieres tonight on Hulu. All eight episodes will release at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
It’s a somber moment for fans because it’s the final season of The Bear. Last month, FX announced that season 5 would be the show’s last season.

The Bear season 5 will deal with Carmy’s devastating decision
Carmy says goodbye
The Bear revolves around Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, played by Jeremy Allen White. In season 1, Carmy, a talented chef in New York City, returns to Chicago to run his recently deceased brother’s Italian beef restaurant. The series evolved into an ensemble drama as Carmy and his crew transformed the beef shop into a fine-dining restaurant.
In the season 4 finale, Carmy made the stunning decision to quit the food industry, leaving the restaurant in the hands of Syd, Richie, and Sugar. Season 5 picks up the morning after Carmy’s polarizing choice. The official season 5 synopsis reads:
“With no money, the threat of a sale and a torrential storm in their way, the new partners must band together with the rest of the team to achieve one last service, hoping they’ll finally earn a Michelin star. Ultimately, they learn that what makes a restaurant ‘perfect’ might not be the food, but the people.”
Besides White, The Bear season 5 cast includes Ayo Edebiri as Sydney “Syd” Adamu, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richard “Richie” Jerimovich, Lionel Boyce as Marcus Brooks, Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina Marrero, Abby Elliott as Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto, Matty Matheson as Neil Fak, and Edwin Lee Gibson as Ebraheim.
The Bear was created by Christopher Storer, who also serves as an executive producer, writer, and director. FX Productions produces The Bear, which streams on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
The Bear season 1 premiered to rave reviews in June 2022. The inaugural season won 10 Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series and acting wins for White, Moss-Bachrach, and Edebiri. Season 2 surpassed the first season in Emmy wins with 11. Unlike some of its contemporaries, which release new seasons every other year, The Bear has premiered new episodes every June since 2022.
This past May, The Bear released a special flashback episode starring Moss-Bachrach as Richie and Jon Bernthal as Carmy’s older brother, Mikey. Titled Gary, the episode follows Richie and Mikey on a special work trip to Gary, Indiana. The bonus episode is now streaming on Hulu.
