This week, Motorola announced the Edge 2026, the latest iteration of its premium smartphone. The device will cost $599.99 in the US—$50 more than its predecessor, the Edge 2025.
The Motorola Edge 2026 has a 6.3-inch Extreme AMOLED display with a 1.5K Super HD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Motorola says the screen can reach up to 5,200 nits of peak brightness. The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7450 chipset, with up to 8GB of RAM (plus a gimmicky RAM Boost that uses storage as virtual memory) and only 128GB of storage. Without a microSD slot, this is a definite downgrade from the Edge 2025, which offers 256GB storage.
When it comes to the camera, the device incorporates a 50MP main camera from Sony’s Lytia line, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and up to 30x Super Zoom. A 50MP camera handles selfies and video calls, while the medley of sensors on the back can record video up to 4K resolution.
The phone has a 5,000mAh battery with 60W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. (For context, the Edge 2025 contains a 5200mAh battery—yet another downgrade, though this one’s more subtle.) Motorola says you can get a day’s power in about seven minutes of wired charging. The chassis has an IP68 and IP69 rating for water and dust resistance, Gorilla Glass 7i, and a Pantone Martini Olive finish with a woven texture on the back.
Registration for preorders is open now, with sales beginning June 11.
