On Tuesday, Microsoft unveiled the new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, which come in new colorways and contain an upgraded processor—but watch out for a steep price hike.
The new 13-inch Surface Pro comes in Platinum, Black, and Dune (copper). It starts at $1,499 for a Snapdragon X2 Plus (10 Core) chip and goes up to $1,799 for a Snapdragon X2 Elite (12 Core). Microsoft says the 13″ X2 model gives up to 53% faster graphics than the last‑gen Snapdragon X Elite version, with up to 15.5 hours of battery life, but at a cost: This 13-inch Surface Pro is $500 more than the last edition’s original 2025 launch MSRP and $300 over its 2025 “storage‑bumped” base.
The updated Surface Laptop also runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 and is available with 13.8-inch and 15-inch displays. Microsoft claims up to 58% higher graphics performance than the current Surface Laptop and up to 20 hours of video playback on the 13.8-inch model, or up to 19 hours on the 15-inch model, which offers 262 PPI. The 13.8-inch Surface Laptop now comes in Platinum, Black, Dune, and a new Jade color, while the 15-inch sticks to Platinum, Black, and Dune.
At $1,599, the 13.8-inch Surface Laptop is about $400 more than last year’s $1,199 X Plus model, and the 15-inch is $1,699 (up $200 from the last model).
This announcement comes a couple of weeks after Microsoft unveiled the new Surface Laptop Ultra. Microsoft says these new PCs are available starting June 16, with Surface for Business versions coming from July 14.
