McDonald’s Just Unveiled a Massive ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Collaboration With 2 Adult Happy Meals

The K-pop battle between the KPop Demon Hunters bands is moving from the screen to one of the world’s largest fast-food chains.

McDonald’s announced a collaboration with Netflix on two adult Happy Meals that will lean into the rivalry between the movie’s musical groups with a Saja Boys Breakfast meal and a HUNTR/X meal.

This is the latest in McDonald’s ongoing effort to prioritize entertainment, global flavors and fandom culture to drive traffic. The fast-food giant is attempting to make menu drops part of the cultural zeitgeist, as the two meals will bring “flavors from McDonald’s restaurants in South Korea, connecting fans to the film through taste.”

“Everything we do at McDonald’s is for the fans, and no one can relate to that more than Netflix and KPop Demon Hunters,” said Alyssa Buetikofer, chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald’s in a press release.

KPop Demon Hunters is Netflix’s most watched original movie with over 325 million views. Additionally, the animated movie has been sweeping this past awards season winning two Academy Awards, two Golden Globes, two Critics’ Choice Awards, a Grammy, and most recently two Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Golden.”

The film follows a world-renowned K-pop girl group, HUNTR/X (Rumi, Mira, and Zoey), as they use music and dance to battle supernatural threats and secretly hunt demons to protect their fans, focusing on themes of friendship, identity, and inner strength.

“Big things happen when you bring two massive fandoms together, and this partnership was a natural fit. We found authentic ways to unite our iconic worlds — inviting HUNTR/X and Saja Boys fans into the rivalry in ways that feel true to the film and unmistakably McDonald’s,” Buetikofer said.
