On Tuesday, Framework announced the Laptop 13 Pro, an ultra-repairable 13.5‑inch notebook with a modular design. Thought to be Framework’s answer to Apple’s MacBook Neo, the model is unique in offering a first-party Linux path that lets users skip Windows entirely.
The Laptop 13 Pro uses Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, including options up to the Core Ultra X9, with a maximum of 64GB of user‑replaceable LPCAMM2 memory. It comes with a 2880 × 1920 3:2 display that can run at up to 120Hz, and for the first time in the 13‑inch line, the laptop features a touch screen and a haptic touchpad.
Almost every part inside the Laptop 13 Pro is designed to be replaceable with standard tools. The chassis uses the company’s Expansion Card system, which lets users customize ports such as USB‑C, USB‑A, HDMI, or DisplayPort using swappable modules. You can easily access vital components, including the battery, keyboard, speakers, storage, RAM, Wi-Fi card, and mainboard. Each component even has a label with a QR code that links to repair guides.
All versions of the Laptop 13 Pro feature a 74Wh battery, which is larger than the Framework 13’s but smaller than the Framework 16’s. Framework says customers will be able to order configurations with Linux preinstalled. Pricing starts at $1,199 for DIY editions and $1,399 for prebuilt systems, with shipments going out this July.
