Byte-Sized Brief

  • Apple launches Apple Creator Studio subscription.
  • Final Cut and Logic Pro add new AI-assisted tools.
  • Pixelmator Pro arrives on iPad for the first time.

Apple is rolling its pro creative apps into a single subscription called Apple Creator Studio. It bundles Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage, plus AI features and premium templates in Keynote, Pages, and Numbers.

The most notable updates are in video and music creation. Final Cut Pro adds transcript search, visual search for objects and actions, music beat detection, and an automated montage feature on iPad that quickly assembles clips and adjusts them for posting to social media platforms.

Logic Pro gains new AI-powered music tools like automatic chord detection, a Synth Player that generates electronic performances, and expanded royalty-free sound libraries. Pixelmator Pro also makes its first appearance on iPad, with full Apple Pencil support.

Apple Creator Studio launches on January 28 for $12.99 per month or $129 per year, with a one-month free trial for new users and heavy discounts for students and educators.

The company will continue selling one-time-purchase versions of these apps on Mac for those who prefer not to subscribe, and the free versions of Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform will remain available.

The Bottom Line

Apple is putting its main professional creative apps into one monthly subscription. The bundle adds new automated tools and works across Mac and iPad, but you can still buy the apps outright.
