Deezer has launched a free AI music detector that lets listeners scan playlists from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, and other streaming services to see which tracks are probably AI‑generated.

The web tool operates on its own site. Users log in with their streaming accounts, allowing Deezer to access their playlists and run them through its AI detection system. Deezer already uses this tech on its own platform to tag fully AI‑generated tracks, reduce fraud, and protect royalty payouts for human artists; this tool pretty much extends its system to listeners on rival services.

The detector analyzes audio to spot patterns and artifacts that Deezer says are typical of tracks from popular generative tools like Suno and Udio. Deezer claims its system is about 99.8% accurate at spotting fully AI‑generated content. The site only flags tracks and does not alter playlists, so if you find an AI-generated song and want to take it off your playlist, you’ll have to do it yourself.

In my testing with my Apple Music library, Deezer told me that 1% of the 1,200+ tracks in my library were AI-generated. Disappointingly, it didn’t tell me which specific songs had been flagged, which made the tool fairly useless.

Deezer positions this tool as a response to what it says is a big surge in AI music uploads, which accounted for 44% of daily music submissions back in April, per our colleagues at PCMag.

By opening its detector to anyone, it might help people understand the sheer prevalence of AI-generated music. But I’m not sure how helpful the tool really is if it doesn’t tell users which tracks are AI.

Regardless, you can check out the tool here.
