    The Download

    • Unlink Chromecast from your account remotely or with the Google Home mobile app.
    • Google Account website: Choose the Chromecast from the Your Devices page and then select Sign out.
    • Google Home app: Devices > Chromecast > Settings > Remove device > Remove.

This article provides instructions on how to unlink Chromecast (or any device) from your Google account via a phone or computer.

How to Unlink Chromecast From the Web

It’s easy to unlink a device from your Google account via the web. This includes Chromecast but also any device you use with your account, such as computers, phones, tablets, or smart home devices.

    Here’s what to do:

Navigate to your Google account’s Your Devices page. Sign in if necessary.

To unlink Chromecast, select it from the list of devices.

Your Device lists all the devices logged in to your Google account.

    Select Sign out.

A pop-up window warns you that this action will remove access to your Google account from the device. Select Sign out to complete the Chromecast unlinking process.

If you don’t want to fully remove your account from Chromecast, but don’t want to use it for a while, you can disable the Chromecast instead.

How to Unlink Chromecast From the Google Home App

The other way to unregister Chromecast or another device is through the Google Home app. Follow these steps to unlink the device from your account:

Open the Google Home app to the Devices tab.

Select the Chromecast from the list.

Tap the Settings button at the top.

    Choose Remove device > Remove.

    FAQ

    • How do I link a Chromecast to my Google account?

When you set up your Chromecast, you’ll see an option to link the device to your Google account. Plug in your Chromecast and download the Google Home app on your iOS or Android device. When you open the app, it will automatically prompt you to begin the Chromecast setup process. One of the final (optional) steps will ask you to sign in to your Google account so you can use Chromecast’s advanced features.

    • How do I disable Chromecast?

While there’s no direct option to disable a Chromecast, you can stop casting or stop mirroring, unplug the Chromecast from a TV or power supply, or turn off the Chromecast. You can also disable Chromecast notifications: Open the Google Home app, tap the Chromecast from the Devices tab, and select Settings > Recognition & sharing. Turn off Let others control your cast media.
