Apple is raising the prices of its products, including the MacBook Neo. For now, however, you can still buy one for $590 on Amazon during Prime Day. The MacBook Neo already starts at $699 on the Apple Store, but it appears other retailers have yet to raise their prices.
Memory prices have risen due to the surge in demand for artificial intelligence technologies. The higher device costs have affected laptops and tablets, including Apple products, leading to price increases on its online store.

As ZDNET’s Lance Whitney pointed out, Apple has already raised the base prices on many of its products:
- A basic iPad with 128GB of storage now starts at $449, up from $349.
- An iPad Air with 128GB of storage now starts at $749, up from $599.
- An iPad Pro with 256GB of storage now starts at $1,199, up from $999.
- A MacBook Air with 512GB of storage now starts at $1,299, up from $1,099
- A MacBook Pro with 1TB of storage now starts at $1,999, up from $1,699.
- A MacBook Neo with 256GB of storage now starts at $699, up from $599.
The MacBook Neo now starts at $700 in the Apple Store, but Amazon still has them at $590. The takeaway? If you’ve been thinking of buying a Neo, now is the time to do so.
Waiting to buy a MacBook Neo means you’ll pay $700 for the 256GB model and $800 for the 512GB model. At only 8GB of RAM, with an A18 Pro chip and between 256GB and 512GB of storage, the question arises: is the laptop still worth the extra $100 for consumers?
I love my MacBook Neo, but I’ve tested laptops and tablets that punch above its weight, and I personally can’t justify paying $800 for my 512GB Neo with 8GB of RAM. This is a fantastic laptop for $700, and it’s everything I needed in one: I use it to write in my spare time, do some graphic design work, and light video editing work, and the Neo doesn’t stutter.

The $700-$800 range is still arguably a good value for students and casual users, but the question becomes more pressing when you consider that you can find an older, discounted MacBook Air with an M3 chip for $900-$1,000, which may make more sense.
I’ll always make the case that the MacBook Neo is the best laptop for most users, since most users don’t need a heavy-hitter laptop. This is why buying it while it’s still $590 makes the most sense, especially if you were already considering purchasing one.
