This Tuesday, Meta launched its own AI smart glasses, Meta Glasses, a cheaper alternative to its Ray‑Ban Meta lineup. These start at $299, compared to Ray-Ban Meta’s $379.

Though Meta developed Meta Glasses in‑house, it’s still working with EssilorLuxottica, the group behind Ray‑Ban and Oakley, to manufacture the frames. The line has several styles: Meta Adventurer has a rectangular design in normal and large sizes, Meta Fury has thicker frames, and Meta Glasses by Kylie (Jenner) features a slimmer oval frame. Users can buy these with plain, prescription, tinted, or transition lenses and can adjust each pair’s nose pad width to three positions for improved comfort.

These smart glasses don’t incorporate a lens display. Instead, they focus on a camera and open‑ear speakers in the temples. A dedicated hardware button on the frame lets users snap a photo, start recording video, or trigger Meta AI, the last of which is Meta’s primary focus with the device. Users can ask Meta AI for up-to-date sports scores, restaurant recommendations, or general queries, and the AI can use the camera to understand scenes and objects. Pedestrian navigation will eventually offer users walking directions via audio prompts, and the live translation feature seen in Ray-Ban Meta now covers 14 new languages, including Hindi, Japanese, Mandarin, and Korean.

Meta Glasses reportedly offer more than 8 hours of use on a single charge, though an $89 charging case can provide an additional 40 hours.

Meta Adventurer, Meta Fury, and Meta Glasses by Kylie are now available on Meta’s website and at Best Buy, Sunglass Hut, LensCrafters, and other eyewear retailers.
