Still craving more J-Lo? In “Marry Me,” she stars as global pop sensation Kat Valdez (Jennifer Lopez) who plans to wed her musical partner Bastian (Maluma) live on stage in front of thousands of adoring fans. But before they can say “I do,” she discovers he’s cheating on her with her assistant. A sold-out crowd watches the drama unfold in real time, and when she sees someone hold up a sign that reads “Marry Me,” she says yes, to everyone’s surprise.
Never in a million years did math teacher Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson) think that would work. With the paparazzi clocking the stunt for what it is, Kat doubles down and commits to the marriage to protect her image. At least until all the public interest and scrutiny cools down. However, as the two play up their happy marriage for the cameras, they begin to find genuine common ground, which sends real sparks flying.

The “will-they-won’t-they” dynamic is back in full force in “People We Meet on Vacation.” In this sun-splashed romcom, a pair of unlikely college best friends, free-spirited Poppy (Emily Bader) and type-A control freak Alex (Tom Blyth), have fallen out of touch over the years and try to revive their annual summer tradition of spending one week together on vacation.
Of course, that’s exactly when long-simmering sparks start to fly, and the pair finally begins to see what all their friends and family have been trying to tell them for ages. Set over several summers, “People We Meet on Vacation” follows Alex and Poppy’s evolving dynamic, as they start to question if their best friend and dependable travel buddy might actually be the person they should be with.

It’s pride month, so naturally I had to throw a gay rom-com into the mix. “Bros,” co-written by and starring Billy Eichner, is a witty, self-aware, and surprisingly heartfelt movie that borrows heavily from tropes you’ll recognize from the hey-day of studio-backed romantic comedies. Eichner stars as Bobby Leiber, a sharp-tongued podcast host and LGBTQ+ museum curator who has all but given up on the idea of lasting romance.
Enter Aaron (Luke Macfarlane), a handsome lawyer who is just as reluctant to commit as he is. Soon the two decide to be emotionally unavailable together, but their casual fling can’t stay that way for long. When sparks fly, both men are forced to confront their insecurities, fears of vulnerability, and beliefs about love.
