OpenAI has rolled out ChatGPT Images 2.0 as a direct answer to rising competition in AI image generation, especially with Google’s Nano Banana taking the internet by storm. The update is an overall improvement, with enhanced accuracy, reasoning, and, most importantly, readable text. OpenAI says the new model, called gpt-image-2, can understand detailed prompts and generate images that look closer to finished design assets.

One of Images 2.0’s more practical improvements is that it renders cleaner, more reliable text in many languages, including English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi, and Bengali. This is a significant step up for people who want to generate posters, infographics, UI screens, social assets, or pretty much anything else that requires text.

The new release also adds deeper reasoning to visual tasks. ChatGPT can think through a request, fetch information from the web when needed, and then create images that show current data or real‑world context. This could come in handy when preparing up-to-date infographics.

Another big plus is that this model generates multiple image variations in a single run, while maintaining a consistent style or character across results. Users can refine those results using follow-up prompts.

With this launch, OpenAI clearly wants ChatGPT to regain ground in visual AI and to stand as a practical, reasoning‑driven image system in a crowded market.
