The modular computing company Framework is back with a brand new Pro version of one of our favorite repairable laptops along with updates to the Framework Laptop 16 and a few surprises.

The six-year-old company says that it now has the scale and resources to build the types of products its customers want. In fact, this new laptop and the rest of the updates it unveiled at its Framework [Next Gen] Event are a direct response to fan feedback.

Tom’s Guide is on the ground live in San Francisco, so stay tuned for our full coverage from this event. For now though, here’s everything you need to know about the new Framework Laptop 13 Pro.

According to Framework, its new Framework Laptop 13 Pro is a “complete ground up redesign” from the Framework Laptop 13. Framework describes the laptop as the “ultimate portable developer and power user machine.”

It can be configured with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 CPUs, specifically the Core Ultra 5, Core Ultra X7 and Core Ultra X9. It comes in three LPCAMM2 configurations; 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, with higher capacity modules coming.

The laptop comes with a 74Wh battery, which Framework claims the 13 Pro can use to stream Netflix at 4K for over 20 hours, 12 hours longer than the Laptop 13. This larger battery can still be replaced easily too. It comes with a 100W GaN Power Adapter which is larger than the previous 60W one but also charges faster.

This new device features Framework’s “purpose-built” display with touch support plus a haptic touchpad. The 13 Pro comes pre-loaded with Ubuntu and measures 13.5-inches with a 2880×1920 resolution and 30-120Hz refresh rate.

Like other Framework laptops, the 13 Pro is repairable, upgradeable and customizable with parts you can purchase from Framework. The company says the 13 Pro is their first system to feature PCIe 5.0 which enables NVMe storage drives up to 8TB.

It comes with Wi-Fi 7 support and a new BE211 radio plus four Thunderbolt 4 interfaces.

The Framework Laptop 13 Pro is available for pre-order starting today at $1,199 for the DIY edition and $1,499 for pre-built versions. Shipments begin in June.

Framework also announced updates to the Framework Laptop 16. These include a new one piece haptic touchpad and one piece keyboard options. There is also a new bezel color and now Ryzen 5 processor configurations.

For power users, Framework is debuting a new OCuLink Dev Kit that is supposed to enable high throughput peripherals like eGPUs.

Finally, the PC maker also announced its new Framework Wireless Touchpad Keyboard. It’s a compact keyboard with an integrated touchpad which the company says is great for living room use, setting up computers or mounting sim rigs.

It uses the same mechanical keyboard and touchpad structure found in the Framework Laptop 12. It can pair four BLE and USB-A dongle hosts alongside wired USB-C connectivity.

There is also a dongle that can be stored in the keyboard, and Framework said they’re developing a USB-A Adapter Expansion Card that will allow the keyboard to sit flush in a Framework Laptop or Desktop.
