    TL;DR

    • Hohem is launching a new portable SSD that’s compatible with smartphones, tablets, Macs, and PCs.
    • The Hohem SSD-01 offers capacity expansion, a built-in microphone receiver port, and a fast charging port.
    • The device will be available in 1TB and 2TB options.

Capturing RAW photos or filming in 4K can quickly eat up the available space on your phone. If space is a constant concern, you may be interested in getting a portable SSD. There are plenty of SSDs out there that work directly with phones, but Hohem’s latest product offers something you won’t find on other SSDs.

Don’t want to miss the best from Android Authority?

At CES 2026, gimbal and accessories maker Hohem announced a new portable SSD called the Hohem SSD-01. The external storage device is a plug-and-play solution that’s compatible with Android, iOS, HarmonyOS, macOS, and Windows. It offers fast transfer speeds, with read speeds up to 2,000MB/s and write speeds up to 1,800MB/s. At 29g, the device is small and lightweight, yet still offers ample storage with 1TB and 2TB options.

As for what sets it apart from other portable SSDs, let’s start with the storage. While 2TB of storage is often more than enough for most people, this device allows you to extend that amount if you need even more space. Hohem claims that this is the first portable SSD with capacity expansion.

In another first, this SSD offers built-in ports for a microphone receiver and fast charging. With the microphone receiver port, you can capture audio without extra equipment when recording video. Speaking of video, this device supports ProRes RAW, Open Gate, and 4K resolutions taken at 120FPS. Meanwhile, the fast-charging port supports up to 65W speeds.

The Hohem SSD-01 costs $219 for the 1TB storage option and $339 for the 2TB variant. Unfortunately, Hohem did not reveal availability details in its announcement.
